Nasal Cavity and Functions of Sinuses: On the view point of Oriental Medicine

Last Sunday I had a presentation at the Korean Oriental Medicine seminar. A few hundreds of OMDs gathered and shared the most updated method. There I was invited as a guest lecturer and had a presentation on ENT treatment (nasal cavity and functions of nasal sinuses) Personally I was grateful for sharing my method with other OMDs from around the country.

Snoring - Surgery is not the answer
You can heal snoring through acupuncture!

(Dr. Lee/CEO of Clinic Cosoom)

If you snore at night, you might consider getting surgical treatment. Yet, it is a dangerous method because if the surgery went wrong, you would lose the sense of smell.

It is one of the important senses that humans have. You eat meals with the senses of smell, taste and touch. Without the sense of smell, it means you will reduce the joy of eating in a third! Actually you can heal snore through a few acupuncture treatment that I invented.

Either of acute and chronic rhinitis can be treated with drawing blood from the nasal mucous membranes using acupuncture, however, it is not easy as it seems.

From allergic rhinitis patients' perspective, they need to be mentally prepared prior to the treatment. The condition induces hypersensitivity provoked by allergens, therefore, at the slighted attempt to penetrate the nasal mucosa causes sneezing. I have to wait for a few sneezes after a quick prick. Sneezing often induces splashing of blood and mucus.

Inflammation caused by allergic rhinitis is not confined to the membrane lining of the nose, but it is a systematic condition inducing itchiness and discomfort in other parts of the body, including the eyes, conjunctiva, throat, inner ear and even anus. Therefore, treating the nose alone does not improve the condition.

Subsequently, people must be mindful of changing their physical constitution through what they have on their table. Unless its symptoms are severe, a careful selection of what you eat can drive out the symptoms from the body.

Sharing Method on How to Cure Snoring through Su-Seung-Hwa-Kang

Hello, it is a beautiful Monday.
Yesterday I went to an oriental medicine seminar.
There I had a presentation on oriental medical method on how to cure snoring through
suseunghwakang.

Maybe you are not familiar with suseunghwakang.
In oriental medicine or in Korean medicine, it refers an energy flow: Water Energy Up, Fire Energy Down

There are two kinds of energy in a body, which is the warm fire energy and water energy.
When our body is in tune, the water energy is located in the head while the fire energy is maintained in abdomen. This condition is called suseunghwagang.

Su means water
Hwa means fire
seung mean going up
hang means getting down

Through this principle, you can heal the snoring.
One of the reasons that you snore is because the fire energy is located in the head.
Cooling down your head through sinus treatment, you can heal snoring. = )

If you visit my clinic in Goheung, Korea, you can learn the method.
Many American Oriental Medical doctors came and learned my method.
You don't have to worry about accomodations. It's all set up in the near eco-village.
During the day time, you learn the method staying in an eco-village located between mountain and the sea.

A Self Remedy for Your Nose (plus ecovillage life)

Hello everyone, I am Dr. Lee.
My name in Korean is Lee Woojeong. Lee is my family name.
It has an interesting story in my name.
My name Woojeong is a bit strange for a girl's name in Korea.
Woojeong itself stands for friendship.
No one in my age had such name.

It provided a good excuse for ma classmates to make fun of me due to my name.
However, I like my name very much now. Since its meaning is friendship, I do have
a lot of friends. Plus, it's easy to remember when you first meet me. Thus, those who saw me
even for the first time, when they see me next time, they still remember MY NAME!!

It's autumn now. Beautiful scenery is everywhere. One of the great things that I enjoy living in a country side is to feel the changes of season through my body. Nature is beautiful.

This method provides a means to drain infected fluid. It does not reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa. Please seek help from an oriental medicine doctor for the condition. Use this as a remedy to maintain the nasal health. Dooibian suction method is an easy and innovative way to treat sinusitis without compromising the unique functions of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. It has progressed from conventional suction method employed by ENT clinics. You can buy this from any medical device management shops. Or call me on my clinic.

Seon Eco-Village, which I live in now

Seon Eco-village, which I live in now

I live in Seon Eco-village, Goheung Korea.
It was the year 2011 when I made up my mind
to live in a eco- community located in a countryside, away from Seoul.

It was not an easy desicion for my self to do so.
Then I had a big clinic in the center of Seoul and was about to build a few more clinics - branches.

Here, I cure patients who can not heal nasal problems due to distance, economic conditions
and so on.

My method to cure nasal problems is done through acupuncture. Many people think they can only remove the sypmtoms such as snoring, allergic rhinitis or sleep apenea through surgery.
Yet, it is not true. From my experience, you can  heal those problems through
Korean acupuncture medicine.

Living in a countryside and going on a vegetarian diet, I can feel myself getting better
everyday. Also, don't forget to take 2 hour of meditation through breathing deeply. = )

How to cure Allergic Rhinitis (by Korean Oriental Medicine)

How to cure Allergic Rhinitis (by Korean Oriental Medicine)

Hello everyone. I am Dr. Lee (Korean Oriental Medicine Doctor) who runs the sinus school in Korea.

It's been almost 26 years since I have been curing sinus problems through acupuncture.

A lot of people think snoring can only be cured through surgery. Yet, the answer is no. It can be cured through acupuncture. I can tell you with honor and pride through my own experience.

Today, you will watch a case of my patient who suffered from allergic rhinitis.
He had severe sneezing and runny nose due to changes in weather. As a matter of fact, allergic rhinitis is the most difficult one to cure.

In this case, I recommend you to stop eating meat for a while and eat lots of vegetable instead.

At least for 100 days.

Why 100 days?

It has a significant meaning in the number 100.
100 days is a minimum period required to change your body type.
If you go on a vegetarian diet for more than 100 days, then you will feel
allergic symptoms dissapear.

Here, enjoy watching

On Snoring

Snoring is a sign, indicating the narrowed respiratory pathway. Breathing can be described as a phenomenon, consists of the contraction of the diaphragm to expand the lungs as balloons to introduce the air into the lungs. In that process, if there is any constricted section exists between the nostrils and lungs, the air flow can vibrate any movable parts which can generate snoring.

However, no snorers ever snore while awake. The reason why snoring only occurs during asleep lies in the degree of muscle tension. During awake, the body's muscles are tensed up, not yielding to the faster air flow to vibrate, however, muscles become relaxed during sleeping, more susceptible to vibration and making a snoring sound.

Causes of Snoring

It is common to define anything that narrows the respiratory tract regarded as a cause for snoring. Commonly the nose, the region posterior to the uvula and the back of the tongue are prone to constriction.

The reasons for snoring according to the parts are as followed.

The nose serves as a critical gateway in breathing. The causes that blocks the gateway include: acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, deviated nasal septum, nasal polyps and sinusitis.

During childhood or adolescence, the adenoid can become engorged to restrict the airway. The adenoid is located right behind the nose, once enlarged, it blocks the nose severely during asleep, inducing snoring.

The blocking by the soft palate is another common cause, since it is the most susceptible part to vibrate. When the uvula or other palate tissues hang lose, the respiratory way becomes easily narrowed. While this is more common to obese people, it can also happen to the slim-shaped with stretched palate tissues or have wide wrinkles in the back of the uvula.
On both sides of the palate, tonsils are located. Those were commonly known to degenerate as people pass their adolescence, however, not inconsiderable number of adults still have them. Since they are located on the lateral sides of the respiratory tract, large tonsils can easily block the respiratory tract.

Adult obesity could be another cause. The tissues surrounding the respiratory tract can be filled with fats, narrowing the air way in the nasal cavity and sinuses, along with the pharynx, larynx which are also parts of the air way.

Another part that can cause obstruction is the back part of the tongue. People with normal respiratory tract does not experience obstructed airway when they lie on their back, however, people with larger tongues or pushed-back tongues might have constricted respiratory tract.

The facial skeleton could be one of the structural problems causing snoring. Narrow, recessed and protruding jaws belong to this structural problems. Narrow jawed people may suffer from restricted airway from having their relatively larger tongues being pushed back by the jaw.

As a part of normal aging process, muscle elasticity can diminish, inducing snoring. Also, chronic snoring can damage the uvula and palate tissues by its vibration (not just damaging the sensory cells, but elasticity in the muscles). This in turn, maintaining the clear airway more difficult.

We have covered the possible causes that can induce snoring from various parts, beginning from the nostrils, entire nasal cavity, soft palate, larynx, and the respiratory tract. Among those, would not there be a cause that holds greater importance that is worth noting.
